  1. Child & Family Services Coordinator
    July 9, 2010

    The Child & Family Services Coordinator is responsible for establishing & creating a supportive, educational & emotional environment for residents of The Second Step.  As part of that role, s/he will assess children who enter TSS & work with their mothers to ensure that they receive needed services.  When a family moves out of The Second Step, s/he will help the parent make the necessary transitions for their children to the new communities.  S/he will also assess each individual’s parenting skills & work with them to provide the services needed to enrich those skills.

  2. Afterschool Program Coordinator
    July 1, 2010

    The Afterschool Coordinator is responsible for the daily running of the Therapeutic Afterschool Program at The Second Step. Serving children from both residences and occasionally those in the Community Program, the Afterschool Coordinator deals with a diverse client base. The therapeutic structure incorporates a multi-age approach (kindergarten through fifth grade) with individualized programming tailored to the unique needs of each child and the Afterschool group as a whole. Emphasizing respect, responsibility, and cooperation, this is a structured, therapeutic curriculum that addresses themes such as moving, living in shelter, feelings, friendship and conflict resolution.   3. Children's Activity Leader

    The Children's Activity Leader is an entry-level role with a high degree of direct interaction with children and an emphasis on providing opportunities for positive, pro-social development. Seated in the transitional housing residences, this position assists in the on-site therapeutic Afterschool program and coordinates the Evening Volunteer Playspace. In conjunction with the Afterschool team and Playspace volunteers, the Children's Activity Leader develops and supervises free and structured play that provides children with a variety of new experiences, including creative self exploration and opportunities to learn and practice problem solving skills.   4. Director of Development

    Director of Development
    The Second Step is seeking a Director of Development with 5-8 years of experience and a proven ability to fund-raise, lead development staff and volunteers, develop compelling materials. The DOD works closely with staff, the Board of Directors and volunteers and is responsible for the Annual Appeal; donor cultivation and donor recognition events; relationships with corporations, businesses, private foundations; planned giving; the continuation of two highly successful special events per year; expansion of visibility and public image, website; and a capital campaign if needed in the future.

    Education and Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Dregree preferred.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly organized, and meticulous attention to details.
