William Kellibrew IV

William is a survivor of domestic violence.  At the age of ten, William helplessly watched as his mother’s estranged boyfriend shot and killed both her and William’s twelve-year old brother in their living room.

Today, William is an international activist for peace, organizer, and President of the William Kellibrew Foundation, an organization that supports people and institutions committed to breaking the cycle of violence.  Professor Clarence Davis, Archivist for the District of Columbia and Dr. Barbara Harvey both founded the organization in 2007.

Also, in 2007, William joined Dr. Bill Cosby, Dr. Alvin Poussaint and Oprah Winfrey on the Oprah Winfrey Show to share his story of tragedy to triumph with a viewing audience of over 40 million and 141 countries worldwide.  William has appeared on a special edition of Business Week magazine and has appeared on Bill Cosby’s Call Out on TVOne and has been featured on J.C. & Friends (WUSA) with J.C. Hayward, the Washington Post, Washington Times, Sunderland Echo, BBC Worldwide, WHUR, National Public Radio, the Bev Smith Show with American Urban Radio Networks, the Right Side with Shelly Winters and countless publications throughout the Washington region and the world.

Internationally, William serves as the 94th Official World-wide Ambassador for the City of Sunderland, England, a lifetime appointment by the City Leader and formally acknowledged by the Mayor of Sunderland.  The ambassadorship is attributed to the “Friendship Agreement” between Washington, D.C. and Sunderland, England where William also studied at the University of Sunderland.

As Ambassador, William has worked with youth offenders, primary school children and British/Sunderland Youth Parliament members, encouraging them to continue their leadership and strive for excellence.  He also visited and spoke with at-risk youth within the Youth Offending Service.

In January 2009, he also started a peace movement called “Sleep Outs for Peace” that garnered international interest in Sri Lanka, Scotland, England and the United States, bringing attention to domestic violence.

William continues to conduct outreach to children, teens, families, victim advocates, law enforcement, and a host of other professionals working directly with victims throughout the United States.

William attended the University of the District of Columbia, majoring in Business Administration, Management and is a member of the U.D.C. chapter of Delta Mu Delta International Business Honor Society, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., a Thurgood Marshall Scholar, Sister City Scholar and a two time alumni of the Nissan Executive Leadership Training Academy.
