Holiday Gift Drive 2008
Dec 25, 2008

To our valued donor angels, elves, and reindeer: THANK YOU!  Thanks to your kindness, generosity, and spirit of giving, you have had an incredible impact on countless families.  You have restored their hope.  Each one of the families we work with is forever grateful for all that you have done.

To best convey to you the enormous positive impact you’ve had on the families, I’d like to share part of a recent email I received from a client:

Thank you so much, this was the best Christmas ever.  It made me feel so special and full that next year I hope to do this for someone else.  Karma dictates if you pass it on, good things will come, blessings aren’t handed out.  Kevin was beside himself, the loud laughs alone made me sure that he really enjoyed his presents.  As I write, he still remains active and has not left the living room yet.  Building is what he does best and the legos, k’nex sets, and toys will keep him building for a long time.  Also thank you for my gifts, we plan to have a great year coming.  I will start working on me now that Kevin is well taken care of.  This is truly a second step for us.

You are not giving me the fish, you are teaching me how to fish - so that I can feed and take care of my family and myself.  I can't figure all of this out yet, but I do know that I have people that I can trust and we have a safety net, if needed.  Your kindness has enabled me to move a few more steps in the right direction, there's no option to lose.  Where would I have Kevin send his Santa thank you card?

Thanks to you and countless others, The Second Step Holiday Gift Drive served over 113 families, including 252 children (that’s a total of 365 individuals!), just like the ones above, who were able to enjoy the best holiday season they’ve ever had.  We were even fortunate enough to have an overflow of toys and gifts that we donated to two local non-profits: Rediscovery House, Inc., and Community Teamwork, Inc.  In turn, at least an additional thirty children’s holidays were brighter because of you!

Your thoughtfulness and generosity are most appreciated by those in need.  Thank you for all you have done to support the families of The Second Step.  Please know that you have touched their lives—and our hearts—in a very special way.  Best wishes for health and prosperity in 2009!

Warmest regards,

Greta Kenney, Community Services Coordinator
