Eileen Morrison Elected Board President
Newton resident Eileen F. Morrison, Esquire, was elected President of the Board of Directors of The Second Step, Inc. in March 2009.
Ms. Morrison, a graduate of Boston University and Boston University School of Law, has practiced immigration law since 1990. She represents corporations, hospitals, and educational and arts organizations in obtaining visas for professionals and artists. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and served on its New England and National Executive Boards. She has authored numerous articles on immigration law including several in the Immigration Practice Manual, published by the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Institute. She is a frequent chair and panelist at immigration conferences. Prior to establishing her own firm, Morrison was Counsel to Palmer & Dodge LLP and was an Associate with Sullivan & Worcester LLP.
Ms. Morrison is a long-time supporter of The Second Step’s services for survivors of domestic violence and their children. During her seven years on the Board she has served on the Program Committee and as Vice President. She has contributed countless hours of pro-bono legal support to help clients who have taken the first step away from violence to self-reliance.
“Domestic abuse affects 25% of American families and existed in my own extended family," says Ms. Morrison. "The Second Step is arguably the best-equipped organization in our state to break its vicious cycle. The agency has a track record of getting people out of danger and back on their feet. I’m proud to give my time, expertise, and financial resources to The Second Step.”
Morrison’s dedication is an inspiration to Executive Director Roberta Rosenberg, who joined The Second Step in 2008: “This is a transformative time in the life of The Second Step. I look forward to moving into The Second Step’s next chapter with Eileen as our leader. Together, we will enrich and expand life-saving services.”
