Runners Raise Over $28,000 to Help End Domestic Violence
The number of domestic violence deaths in Massachusetts was nearly three times higher in 2007 than in 2005. According to the Massachusetts Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, there were 15 murders and four domestic violence-related suicides in 2005, 28 murders and three suicides in 2006 and 42 murders and 14 suicides in 2007.
The Second Step breaks the cycle of domestic violence by providing survivors and their children with transitional housing and support services that empower them to remain free from abusive relationships and to lead productive lives.
We would like to thank our Team TSS runners for the hard work and dedication to helping raise funds to support the programs of The Second Step. The 2008 Team TSS Marathon Challenge raised nearly $28,000! A big “Thank you!” to our wonderful team members and their supporters:
