On October 9, 2003, at the Rashi School in Newton, MA, approximately 400 people gathered to hear author Michele Weldon speak about her book “I Closed My Eyes”.
This compelling autobiography details Ms. Weldon’s 12-year struggle with domestic abuse at the hands of her husband, a successful attorney who was “well-respected” by all who knew him.
This event brought together book groups and individual readers to learn about the reality of domestic abuse in upper-middle class households and engage in a conversation about ways to address the problem.
More than $26,000 was raised to support The Second Step programs and services.
